An evening in Prayaas

Hi all !!! Here is something about Prayaas. Prayaas is an organization started by Puneet Vijay Sir (my grand grand senior!!) & is currently managed by IIIT-A students fraternity. I was introduced to Prayaas by Puneet sir only in my 1st years. He mentioned about the daily evening classes of an hour for the under privileged children in the village behind our college, and that students like us teach them English, Maths & Hindi.

WOW!! Can we students really do it? Really amazing. Finally, I also got a chance to do something (Thanks Sir!). I went to Prayaas first time, with Kunal (my buddy) in my 1st years. Fine, nothing great that day as we were already late and also were only checking the H.W. (Yes, I remember!!). Went only twice in my 1st year, I think.

Now, comes 2nd year. I enjoyed teaching on board. I enjoyed the part when a student asked me when he didn't understood something. I enjoyed when they walked with me holding my hands tightly as if not wanting me to go. The way they talked with such innocence and simplicity to me, I felt responsible, for them. For the first time in my life, I felt responsible for something.

There was Independence Day Celebration, and along with the Professors, some children even touched my feet. I asked to myself...Was I worth it? Have I done enough good deeds so as to be rewarded this heavily? I wasn't this good, why me? It showed me what value, what role I had in there lives. They tied rakhis on my wrist on Rakshabandhan, did a tiika, and also gave me sweets (the best sweets of my life!!). I felt more responsible and attached.

Due to Prayaas, I came across to some great people in my life. Puneet Sir, Devesh Sir, Sumit Sir, Ravi Sir, Akshay sir, Mahesh Sir,  Ritesh Sir, Aram Sir, Nishant, Achint, Gaurav, Manish, Harsh, Sourav, and a lot of them unmentioned. Each of the them have left their mark in my life, Thank you, to each of you!!

As life goes on, I ll be out of college, & I know these kids will miss me, just like they miss my seniors, like I will. But these memories, these feelings, shall always be there. There would something with me all my life, of which I would be proud of, that I would cherish every time I think of.

Thank You Prayaas!!!
